ICT and STEAM in JC History

I'm very interested in integrating technology effectively into the classroom to enrich the learning experiences of all students. All of my resources are created through a combination of the Microsoft365 Suite and Canva, with other tools also used to create a broad range of educational resources to supplement the wonderful textbooks that are on the market.

My own interests in gaming has led to me taking advantage of the Minecraft Education Edition which I have been using since I started in the classroom. I have found the game to be a vital addition to my teaching resources, giving students the opportunity for cross curricular links between history and computer science as well as a creative approach to exploring historical events in a world they are more familiar with. Through my school's STEAM initiative, I've also taken part in the Microsoft Education Ireland's Dreamspace Minecraft Education Teacher Academy which provided a valuable insight into areas I had yet to discover.

Having recently completed my Higher Diploma in Science in Computing for Educators, I am now working towards completing my nomination for the 2024 Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert.
